Orto-Tokoy Water Reservoir

Orto-Tokoy reservoir is considered to be the first water reservoir in Kyrgyzstan. It was created in 1956. It is located on the Chu River, beyond the village Kochkor.

Orto-Tokoy reservoir is considered to be the first water reservoir in Kyrgyzstan. It was created in 1956. It is located on the Chu River, beyond the village Kochkor. Its length is about 18 km and the volume is more than 4700 million cubic meters.

The main function of the reservoir is irrigation of agricultural land of Chuy region and Southern Kazakhstan. The water surface impresses with its vast expanse and serenity. In different places the water changes its color: soft blue, emerald green or almost black. The rim of gray-brown mountains surrounding Orto-Tokoy water reservoir makes the scenery amazing.
