Museum of Przewalski

The famous Russian traveler of the 19th century Nikolai Mikhailovich Przevalski was one of the first to make an expedition to the Central Asia.

The famous Russian traveler of the 19th century Nikolai Mikhailovich Przevalski was one of the first to make an expedition to the Central Asia. The Issyk Kul lake and beautiful places located in the surrounding area had especially fascinated him. His journey and life path he completed in 1888 at a place where the present town Karakol stands. In the place where he was buried, now is a memorial complex.

The museum exhibition is devoted to the life of traveler. It contains more than 500 exhibits, including photos, documents, awards, personal items of Przevalski. In the center of the memorial is a nine-meter monument, the front part of which is decorated with face profile of the traveler. On the top of the monument there is a bronze eagle, the singer of the glory of the scientist. Behind the monument is the grave of Przevalski. 

The territory of the memorial complex is covered with beautiful fruit garden.
