We invite you to have an unforgettable skitouring in east part of Kyrgyzstan. There is good snow and powder in Terskey Ala-Too that near the city of Karakol that situated on southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake - the second biggest lake in the world.

Day
1

Airport Manas – Karakol, 400km

Meeting at Manas airport , driving to Karakol city via Boom valley, where ancient caravans of Silk Road used to pass. We will drive along the north shore of Issyk-Kul lake, you will enjoy picturesque and interesting landscapes. It is the tenth largest lake in the world by volume (though not in surface area), and the second largest saline lake after the Caspian Sea. It is the second largest mountain lake in the world behind Lake Titicaca in South America. We will stop on the way on the  mineral hot springs and lunch. Arriving to Karakol, short city tour. Accommodation and dinner at hotel.

2

Karakol – Ski Base Karakol, 30 km

We will visit popular ski base Karakol, during Soviet time Olympic team was training at these slopes. Skiing among big fir trees in the forest is also making this place popular. We will divide for 2 groups, for those, who want to ski on the ski base and those, who already want to start ski touring. We will make a ski tour almost to the bottom of Peal Prjevalsky 4273 from the highest panorama point of the ski base. We can go up and ski down 2-3 times. Returning to town and dinner at ethno restaurant Dastorkon. Accommodation at hotel.

3

Karakol – Chon-Kyzyl-Suu - Karakol, 100km

Landscapes of Chon-Kyzyl-Suu area are amazing, Rocky Mountains, Red Rocks, a lot of firs, river are ideal for backcountry at that place. We will meet with horse guide and have instruction of horse riding and rules for backcountry at that area. During the day, horses will lift you up to the hills few times. You can enjoy with beauty of Issyk-Kul Lake from place where you will roll down. Arriving back to Karakol. Dinner and accommodation at hotel.

4

Karakol – Aksuu valley, 15 km

We are moving to the great place for ski touring, to the valley Aksu. We will stay at yurt at altitude 2700m with possibility to ski from 3800m. After ski touring, hot sauna will be available. Dinner and accommodation at Yurt Camp.

Ak-Suu valley (full day ski touring)

Ski touring all day. After ski touring, hot sauna will be available. Dinner and accommodation at Yurt Camp.

Ak-Suu – Chon Ashu Pass – Jyrgalan, 150 km

Departing to Chon-Ashu pass 3822m early morning. You will ski down from the snow pass, on the point you will meet car, which will bring you back to the top of the pass. Moving to Jyrgalan area in the evening. Dinner and accommodation at guesthouse.

7 - 8

Jyrgalan (full day ski touring)

Jyrgalan is located around 60 km from Karakol, almost no wind. Jyrgalan is the name of the village, which was built at 1964 for miners who were working in coalmines. In present time local community is trying to develop tourism on the place. They open few good guesthouses. We will spend here 3 days and 2 nights. This place is good for ski touring due to it has different kinds of slopes and a lot of snow.

Jyrgalan – Karakol, 60 km

Moving to Karakol after ski touring. Hot sauna on the beach of Issyk-Kul lake will be provided. Shashlik (barbecue) will be provided for the dinner after sauna. Accommodation at hotel.

10

Karakol – Bishkek, 400km

Moving to Bishkek by south shore of Issyk-Kul lake. We will stop at Fairytale canyon. The canyon was named due to its bizarre rocky landscape, which for many years has been transformed by wind into fabulous sculptures and formations. Short city tour in Bishkek on arrival. Festive dinner at traditional restaurant Supara. Accommodation at hotel.

Bishkek – airport Manas

Early morning driving to the airport. End of the service.

Notes

Necessary equipment, which have to have each participant:

  •  Ski touring equipment;
  •  Avalanche equipment - beeper, probe, shovel;
  •  Sticks;
  •  2 Ski mask (ideally two - dark and light);
  •  Freeride backpack 25-35 liters;
  •  Helmet;
  •  Minimum first aid kit;
  • Thermos;
  • Sun cream;
  • Head flashlight;
  • Sunglasses;
  • Screwdriver.
